What to consider when purchasing a table tennis table

Indoor Tables

The materials used to manufacture Cornilleau’s indoor tables are not weather resistant but do provide an excellent bounce, are very stable and are good value for money. This type of table is also used in competitions.

Outdoor Tables

The materials used to manufacture Cornilleau’s outdoor tables are weather resistant (sun, rain, snow, frost) and therefore can safely be left outside without any risk of deterioration. They are longer lasting and the top models still provide a very high quality game.

1Panels

The bounce quality varies according to the panel. The thicker, the denser, and/or the harder the board, the higher and more uniform the bounce will be as there is a direct relationship between the thickness/density/hardness of the board and the quality of the bounce.

Chipboard : thickness 16 to 25mm

Medium density/medium hardness.

Resin laminate : thickness 4 to 7mm

Very high density/very hard. Resistant to bat blows.

2Frames

The playing surface sits on a frame which varies in thickness from 35mm to 80mm. The frame increases the rigidity and the flatness of the board so a thicker frame will produce a flatter board. All Cornilleau tables have a frame manufactured from steel alloy, zinc and aluminium for the best in corrosion resistance.

3Coating

The Mat Top anti-glare coating is 10 times less reflective than standard tops. These tables also have an improved spin effect.

Tables with a Soft MAT Top anti-glare coating reflect 3 times fewer rays than standard tops.

The SKIL Top playing surface is used on Cornilleau’s Competition range. This is a quality treatment to create strong table tops with a high-quality, long-lasting surface that ensures a reliable and regular bounce.

4Leg Assembly

The leg assembly determines the stability of the table so broader legs are more stable. Some tables are supplied with leg levellers which allow for adjustment on uneven ground. Most tables have been designed for wheelchair play.

5Wheels

The wheels assist you in moving the table and must stand up to resistance. Larger diameter wheels enable the table to roll easily whilst brakes provide greater stability. Outdoor tables have notched wheels to make movement over rough ground easier.

6Net & Post Sets

Cornilleau use either steel or ABS for their net posts and cotton or polypropylene for the nets. Cornilleau tables are always supplied with a permanently mounted net and posts set and most have some adjustment for the height and tension of the net.

Corner protection pads

For maximum child safety, some tables are supplied with soft, rubber, corner protection pads.

Wheels with brakes

Brakes provide greater stability for improved playing comfort and additional safety in storage.

Leg levellers allow adjustment of the feet for a perfectly level playing surface on uneven ground.

Ball dispensers

Sited alongside the player at each end of the table, these dispensers are extremely practical in keeping balls within easy reach.

Accessories storage

Most tables include some form of storage for bats and/or balls.

Retractable net

The net automatically retracts between the tops when the table is closed to optimise storage space and reduce breakages.

Adjustable height & tension

On most tables, the net can be adjusted for height & tension.

Transport handle

This handle allows table to be easily lifted over obstacles such as steps and doorways.

Locking mechanism

Using Cornilleau’s patented locking mechanisms, the table is fully locked in both playing and storage positions.

Compact folding system

When folded, the table’s height is only 155cm which is less than the average adult thereby making it easier to move and reducing the risk of it toppling over.
